RS2000 - Body shell restoration only

This Mk2 RS2000 came to Classic & Retro partialy stripped  needing a full body shell restoration. The car was stripped to bare shell with all parts catalogued, and sorted. The body shell and parts were sent for blasting. Upon inspection it became very apparent that the body shell was badly corroded, with poorly repaired rear accident damage.

Our technicians got to work cutting out all the corrosion from the body and chassis and fabricating new sections and manufacturing new spring hangers. It also had new chassis skid plates and anti tramp bar brackets.  They replaced the inner and outer front wings along with the inner and outer rear arches, near side sill ensuring they all fitted correct and where in line. The work didn't end there as it still needed various repairs to the floors, boot wells and valance along with sorting out the accident damage.

The suspension that came back from blasting was repaired as required or replaced with new and powder coated or painted gloss black. Then stored until required

Once all the repairs were complete it was time to start repairing all the smaller dents and bumps the body shell had received over the years.

The next stage was to complete any required filler work and prepare the car for priming.  The car was primed inside and out and blocked off. Once this had been done the car was checked over again for any minor imperfections. The underneath and lower body was stone chipped. The car is painted in sections, underneath, engine bay, boot, inside then outside with a base coat and lacquer, Ford Signal Orange. The final painting was the sections that needed to be satin black.

The engine and gearbox was steam cleaned, painted and given an unleaded conversion, The powder coated belt cover etc were refitted and the starter motor was reconditioned. We then fitted the engine and gearbox and refitted all of the running gear with poly bushes. The car was delivered back to a very happy customer to complete the build.
